Games with Banger Soundtracks
Do you unwind from a hard day at work with full volume music and video games? Check out this list of games with head banger soundtracks!
For any list of games with great music you find, it is a given that Doom Eternal will be on it. On the off chance you’ve never heard of the game, here’s a quick overview: Doom Eternal is a first-person shooter game where you play as the Doom Slayer and blow-up creepy demons with wicked weaponry. If you liked the gameplay for the Shadow Warrior franchise or Borderlands 3, then you’re sure to enjoy Doom Eternal. With the infamous Mick Gordon who worked on games like Wolfenstein and Destroy All Humans!2, it’s not a surprise that the soundtrack is an absolute banger. Out of the composers who contributed to the Doom Eternal soundtrack also worked on the Killing Floor franchise, another great game with awesome music.
Killing Floor is an epic zombie game franchise with a long soundtrack full off awesome heavy metal that takes a new perspective on familiar every-day tunes. The first game came out in 2009, making it one of the first to try the innovative mix of zombies and heavy metal. With the third game coming out soon, now is the perfect time to check out Killing Floor.
One up and coming indie game with awesome music and gameplay is Hi Fi Rush. Hi Fi Rush, released quite recently, has seen great success, with 2 million players already. Hi Fi Rush follows Chai, whose heart was fused with a music box, on his journey to escape from a “sinister corporation.” With unique rhythm-based fighting, Hi Fi Rush allows you to create expressive rock music whilst fighting evil robots.
The music composition team for the Hi Fi Rush soundtrack consists of Shuichi Kobori who previously worked for Konami, Reo Uratani who worked for Capcom, and sound designer Masatoshi Yanagi who has worked on games in the past such as Ghostwire Tokyo and The Evil Within 2. Check out Hi Fi Rush while it’s hot!

Update: we wrote this quite a few months ago. We are disheartened and saddened at the events of recent days that affected at least one of the studios from this article.
Who doesn't love a funny game?
A couple of weeks ago I was browsing some game news and saw a short for “Squirrel with a gun” by Dee Dee Creations. I had to laugh, such a silly idea, but hilarious. Here is the Hitmarker link to some game play.

We love playing fun games as a group and wanted to highlight some of our favourites.
Ultimate Chicken Horse is the perfect game to play with friends and family – it has a simple concept with easy mechanics and great customisation. There’s a wide range of characters and levels to choose from, which is still expanding! The real challenge on this game comes with the insane combinations you can make with weapons and blocks to screw over your competitors. A favourite of ours is creating a chain of boxing gloves to hit whoever comes close to the finish. Looking for a silly party game? Look no further than Ultimate Chicken Horse! Clever Endeavour Games
The Goat Simulator Franchise is a chaotic masterpiece with versatile customisation and fun gameplay which enables you to be an absolute menace. Significant improvement has occurred throughout the franchise, with now incredible music, visuals, gameplay and customisation. The map is expansive and chaotic, with several activities for you to participate in alone or with friends. The customisation has somehow gotten weirder – you can be whatever you want, from a shark to a satanic goat. The games are riddled with hilarious pop culture references to give you a chuckle. Our favourite has to be the opening of the 3rd game, where Skyrim is mimicked in an iconic way! If you’d like to channel your inner goat and wreak havoc, Goat Simulator is for you! Goat Simulator 3

Another memorable game on this list is Octodad. Octodad uses a truly infuriating movement gimmick as the basis of it’s gameplay and lore, the perfect recipe for chaos. Unlike others on this list, Octodad goes the extra mile to include lore to engage the audience. In fact, the lore makes it so the movement gimmick isn’t even the hardest part of the game. The hardest part is being a good father and husband. The soundtrack for this game is a banger, especially throughout the opening credits which they made interactive in an awesome sequence. If you like lore and chaos, check out Octodad! Octodad
Game updates and other things
So what has Playful Puppy been up to lately?
First Game
We have been continuing to work on our first game. As a recap. The game is a metroidvania style platformer.
The Player will be following the trials and tribulations of our hero character through rich environments (eventually) to beat the evil things :).
This work is continuing and we hope to start having some GIFs and example game play in the near future.
So, recently we decided, that the name “Discarded” would actually be better for a different game we had in mind.
So because of that we will be coming up with a new name.
The New Discarded
As I mentioned above, the new “Discarded” game will be a gothic fantasy trading card game (TCG), taking some inspiration from the other classic ones like Magic: The Gathering and Inscryption.
This one has the team quite excited and we hope to get something going quickly with this.
Both of these games will eventually launch a kickstarter, once we are happy with our progress.
Indie Game reviews
We wanted to introduce a bit more content and make the site more fun. So to do this we will start reviewing other Indie and small game studio games from console and PC.
The goal is to highlight what we like about the games, what was done well, what we would like to see and perhaps even start to build more of a lighthearted community.
Issues
The last update is a gripe. LinkedIn in their wisdom have currently blocked our access to the Playful Puppy Game Studio page. Although , there is not a lot of followers on it. We just wanted to let you know why it isn’t getting updated.
Hopefully, it will get resolved soon.
Until next time. Keep playing for the fun of it.
A Year has gone by
It has been a bit over a year since we started working on Playful Puppy Game Studios. Covid and other challenges has delayed our progress more than we would have liked.
The development of our first game is progressing, and we are looking to get it to vertical slice by March next year.
As all startup indie game studies would appreciate, a lot of this journey involves the wearing of multiple hats, and learning as well. Its always fun, but finding the time can be a challenge.
We have implemented some key steps to make it easier, including CI/CD processes and tool integration. Ongoing, as we mature, processes we will continue to develop and enhance the automation processes.
For those just getting started this link is helpful.

The old saying is valid - work smarter not harder.
Until next time
Cheers.
Just Getting Started
Making time to enjoy the work and see the potential is just as important as doing the work. The creativity and vision will help us deliver future games.
It is a month since we started Playful Puppy Game Studios. In that month we have been working hard to establish the vision of the company. The team has been working towards establishing the format of the company for most of the year.
I was surprised to look back at our first internal game jam and realised it was done back in December 2020. Time really does fly!
Establishing the company is challenging. There are so many hats we must wear in a small company, but it is also exciting and full of potential.
Making time to enjoy the work and see the potential is just as important as doing the work. The creativity and vision will help us deliver future games.
We hope we can learn and deliver to that potential as we grow and mature into a talented Independent Game Company.
Our first game , Discarded, is coming along nicely. The small but talented team is piecing it together.
Currently, we are fine tuning the narrative and concept art, something we can share in the future. The technical team is starting to build the bones of the game and our in-house music composer is starting to develop compositions for the game and different levels.
At this stage we are planning for 16 different level areas, with five to six bosses to fight. It is going to be a great game.
Over the next few months, we will finalise the story and level designs, and start a crowdfunding campaign to help us deliver on the vision.
So stay tuned for updates, as we get closer to the launch of our crowdfunding campaigns.
